Karen Ingram
BioBuilder Educational Foundation

Karen Ingram is a creative director, designer, and artist that focuses on science communications. Her unconventional career path has placed her work on apparel, scaffolding, books, bacteria, surfboard fins, and Times Square billboards.

Karen has a special interest in emerging biotechnology and is a co-author of “BioBuilder: Synthetic Biology in the Lab (O’Reilly, 2015),” which has also been published in Japanese (2018) and Russian (2019). As a Synbio LEAP fellow, Karen is recognized as an emerging leader in synthetic biology. Recently, she became an Emerging Tech Fellow at The Hasso Plattner Institute of Design (known as the d.school) at Stanford University.
